What is Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking is fitness walking with specially designed Nordic Walking poles and offers a very efficient aerobic workout and easy way to improve your physical condition irrespective of age, sex or physical condition.
Walking with your poles as little as thirty minutes a day, three times a week, can help lower your blood pressure, reduce your cholesterol, and help to relieve back, shoulder and neck pain. After only a few weeks you will notice the difference - more relaxed muscles, better conditioning and better health.
How did we get involved?
Our Mom’s back in Switzerland got involved in Nordic Walking and this triggered our interest in the sport, especially after I, Daniela, had to stop running for a while due to a knee injury.
This past summer we took an Instructor Certification course with Gottfried Kuermer, a Nordic Walking Master Coach from Austria, in Central Park and we were hooked. We really saw the benefits of Nordic Walking and experienced that walking correctly with these poles can actually be a great workout. One of our favorite places to do Nordic Walking is at the beach. We also enjoy walks in one of our many parks here in Monmouth county or if we are pressed for time we’ll just walk around the neighborhood. We know that even if we only have 30 minutes we’ll get a great total body workout in.
Today, we are committed, as members of the American Nordic Walking Association (ANWA), to provide high quality training to others here in Monmouth county.
We invite you to take a look by attending one of our classes. For detailed information about our Nordic Walking Classes and programs click here.
